Privacy policy
What we collect about visitors, and how clinic information is handled.
This policy explains how CheckGigi handles personal data in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and its amendments. It is not legal advice.
Visitor data
- Search: searching runs inside your browser. Your search text is not sent to us.
- Location: the "Clinics near me" button asks your browser for your location. It is used inside the browser to work out distances and is never sent to or stored by us.
- Recently viewed clinics: your browser keeps the names and links of the last six clinic pages you opened (in the browser's local storage, not a cookie) so they can be shown again on the home page. This list is never sent to us. You can delete it with the "Clear list" button.
- Maps: every clinic page shows an embedded Google map. When the map loads, Google receives your IP address and may set cookies, under Google's privacy policy.
- Statistics: we use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to count visits and understand how the site is used. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, under Google's privacy policy. You can block cookies in your browser settings or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Adverts: this site does not currently show adverts. If Google AdSense adverts are added later, this section will be updated because AdSense uses third-party cookies.
- Email: if you email us, we keep the message for as long as needed to reply and handle the request, then delete it within 12 months.
Clinic information
Clinic details (name, address, phone, website) are business information published by the clinics themselves and collected in the Overture Maps open dataset, which excludes personal data under its publisher's terms. Phone numbers are hidden when a listing looks like it belongs to an individual.
