How the data is collected
Where this list comes from, what we filter out, and what the data cannot tell you.
Main source: Overture Maps
Every clinic on this site comes from Overture Maps Places, an open map dataset published monthly by the Overture Maps Foundation. This build uses release 2026-09-23.1. About 98% of Malaysian dental clinic records in that dataset originate from Meta (business pages); the rest come from Foursquare and Microsoft.
We take places categorised as dental clinics, plus places in other health categories whose name clearly says they are a dental clinic (for example a "Klinik Pergigian ..." filed as a hospital).
Cross-check with the KKM list
The Ministry of Health Malaysia publishes a list of private dental clinics registered under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 (Act 586). The list we use is dated 14 Oct 2026 and contains 4,372 clinics.
Each clinic is compared with that list using the same postcode and a near-identical name (match score of at least 88 out of 100). Clinics that match are marked In KKM list. The mark only means the clinic appeared in the list on that date; it does not mean the clinic is still registered today.
Clinics without a match are marked Not verified by KKM. That does not mean the clinic is unregistered. Common reasons: government clinics (not in the private list), clinics opened after 14 Oct 2026, or a map name that differs from the registered name. We never publish clinics that exist only in the KKM list without an Overture record.
What we filter out
Of 4,170 records in the source data, 3,616 clinics have a page on this site.

Duplicates are found when two records have nearly the same name and sit very close together (usually under 60 metres), or share a phone number. The record with the higher confidence score is kept.
States and towns
The source data rarely states the state, so the state is worked out from the postcode. The coordinates are then checked against a rough outline of that state. If they disagree, map links use the address instead and the page is kept out of search engines. Town names come from the source "locality" field, with some spelling cleanup.
Indexed pages
Every clinic in the list gets a page, but only reasonably complete pages are offered to search engines. The conditions:
- Overture confidence score of at least 0.77;
- an address, a 5-digit postcode, a state and a town;
- a phone number or a website;
- coordinates that match the postcode's state;
- a name that does not look like an individual's name.
In this build, 2,892 of 3,616 clinic pages meet these conditions. Town pages are indexed when at least 3 clinics in them qualify.
Phone numbers
Phone numbers come from the clinic's public business page in the source data. More than half are mobile numbers, because many clinics use a WhatsApp number as their main line. We hide the number when the listing name looks like a dentist's personal name, or when a mobile number sits next to a name that does not clearly describe a clinic. In that case the clinic page says "Not shown (privacy)" rather than "Not stated".
What this data does not tell you
- Opening hours and prices are not shown because there is no reliable data.
- Operating status: the source does not flag closed clinics. A clinic that has closed may stay listed until someone reports it.
- Quality of care: we do not rate, rank or recommend clinics. Lists are ordered by name and completeness of data, never by payment.

The site is rebuilt after each Overture release. If you spot a mistake, use the "Report a mistake" link on the clinic page or email hubungi@checkgigi.my. Manual corrections are recorded together with their source.
